After moving to Illinois in 1991 from South Carolina, I studied in Printmaking and received an MFA In 1993. During my time in graduate school, I studied at the Citie Universitaire in Paris, France and quickly became greatly interested in Installation and assemblage work, as well as Painting and Drawing. After completing my MFA, I taught Drawing, Design and Art History for 5 years at Parkland College in Champaign, IL. My background is also in Museum Exhibition Preparation, where I built and designed art exhibits at the Krannert Art Museum for 6 years. From 1991-2011, I taught Drawing, Design, Painting and Art History. I have recently rediscovered my strong interest in Printmaking, Ceramics and 3-Dimensional studies, and have begun teaching in these fields. I continue to exhibit both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional works in tandem. I currently live in Urbana, Illinois with my partner and our son, and hope to someday buy some land in New Mexico. There, I would like to build another strawbale house adorned with live chickens in the yard and perhaps goats or sheep....oh, and a Virgin de Guadalupe shrine.
