Images > 2011 Paintings on Linen Stretched on Panel: Fall/Winter

Birb, Bird is based on the direct transfer of our son's writing of his first words. He wrote these two words out as he asked us to speak the letters to him. The significant happening in his life is a jarring event to witness as a parent. It's a reminder of all the stages we as humans go through, but often do not have a memory of experiencing. Because of this, I wanted to document it in this painting. The other images of the bathtub, water and ladles are also symbols of our growth in this life...our first bath and soak as well as our son's first soak.
